GYPSY COBS
Smiths Gypsy Cobs became an established stud in 2007 with ambitions of breeding Gypsy Cobs and derivatives. The combination of two family’s with one dream which soon became a reality with the purchase of a pure bred Gypsy Cob stallion, The Journeyman. Journey was one of only a handful of pure bred stallions imported at that time making Smiths Gypsy Cobs one of the oldest continuing studs in Australia to this day. From this moment a small stud of one Gypsy Cob Stallion and some mares soon grew to a more larger well-established stud comprising of two stallions and even a handful of pure bred mares. With our small herd of much loved mares and beautiful Stallions we aim to breed a variety of attractive, versatile, sensible horse’s ideal for the whole family. Since then the dream has become more of a reality (and an obsession) and both families have taken on their own paths with big ambitions for the future of this wonderful breed.
Smith's Gypsy Cobs are based at Alexandra, in the foothills of Victoria's high country, but this all fades into the distance when in the company of such magnificent, gentle, noble creatures as the Gypsy Cobs.
Like all good things, they are better shared so their true worth can be seen by the smile on their owner's faces and the joy in their hearts. Our belief in these fabulous horses is to breed and offer a superb selection of pure and Gypsy Cob foals for others to enjoy just like we have over the many years.
Over the years we have managed to establish a well known stud with high ambitions of continually producing quality, conformation and temperament, and for the foreseeable future, we will continue to do just that.
